Juneteenth 2021

The Touchstone Diversity Initiative would like to wish a Happy Juneteenth Day to all who are celebrating the Holiday this Saturday!
With the origins of the celebratory day traced back to 1865, the holiday has recently received nation-wide attention, receiving recognition here in Louisiana with Governor Edwards’ signing of Act 128 (https://gov.louisiana.gov/index.cfm/newsroom/detail/3212), and with Juneteenth now becoming the first newly created federal holiday in 3 decades (https://apnews.com/article/juneteenth-congress-federal-holiday-3cc3b7a56ec97b0bae3dbdff1da092ee).
Please take some time to learn the history of Juneteenth, by visiting online resources provided by the National Museum of African-American History and Culture (https://nmaahc.si.edu/events/juneteenth). It’s a great source with informational videos, a recommended readings list, and more! +9
