Touchstone: The Science of Success

Our Philosophy

Our core beliefs and values provide the foundation for our approach to service delivery. We believe that early intensive & frequent services delivered with fidelity is critical to giving our clients the best chance for success. A scientific approach to effective education based on the principles of learning & behavior has the power to transform the lives of children & young people with and without disabilities.

While each individual may respond differently, we are committed to such a rigorous approach because we believe this will lead to the most optimal outcomes for our clients & their families.

About ABA

"Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science in which procedures derived from the principles of behavior are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior to a meaningful degree" (Cooper, Heron and Heward, 2007). Simply put, ABA involves using strategies that have proven to be effective in changing behaviors in a controlled setting and also changing behaviors in the "real world."

While each individual may respond differently, we are committed to such a rigorous approach because we believe this will lead to the most optimal outcomes for our clients & their families.

The mission of CABAS® is to develop and expand a learner driven science of teaching for all children, a science of practice that provides superior education based exclusively on scientific procedures. Our goals are to accelerate children’s learning, the ability to learn in new ways, and to acquire the ability to learn independently. It is also as important that children learn to expand their community of reinforcers, or passionate interests, as it is to teach them to do things they could not do without special instruction. It is not enough to learn to read fluently; rather, one must come to learn to love to read.  There are systematic scientific procedures to do this and we seek to provide them for children in our schools and to expand the science to do so for children in all schools!
