Touchstone ABA Spotlight
This month we shine the spotlight on Touchstone team member, Dr. Dolleen-Day Keohane. Our spotlight on Dr. Keohane is also an expression of our deep gratitude for her commitment to our clients, our clinicians, our students, and to Touchstone. Her generosity with her time and expertise contributes immensely to the high quality of the services we provide.
Dr. Keohane became interested in the science of ABA because of her desire to help at-risk children with emotional disabilities and children with language delays; she has dedicated her professional career to improving educational outcomes using a strategic science of teaching. She received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Pace University and a master’s degree in English Literature from New York University. Dr. Keohane also received two additional master’s degrees from Teachers College Columbia University, one in applied behavior analysis and a second in instructional design. Yes, that’s three master’s degrees! She obtained her PhD from the Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Science in the CABAS® program developed by Dr. Greer, her mentor.
Dr. Keohane has consulted with and trained CABAS® practitioners around the country and the world. Over the last 31 years, she has served as a teacher, supervisor, principal, and consultant at CABAS® schools and CABAS® initiatives in England and Ireland as well as across the United States. She is also committed to volunteering her time and expertise to the dissemination of a strategic science of teaching and CABAS® methodology, serving as a founding board member of the CABAS® Advisory Board for more than 20 years and as a founding board member of the Foundation for the Advancement of a Strategic Science of Teaching (FASST.)
Dr. Keohane has published research and text chapters on CABAS® supervision, verbal behavior analysis, verbal behavior developmental theory and related protocols, as well as aspects of the organizational behavior management components of the CABAS® system. Dr. Keohane says “ The professional relationships with the LBAs who have been co-authors on research presented at professional conferences since 2010 to the present, the friendships and positive interactions I enjoy with the LBAs and Touchstone staff make working at Touchstone very special to me, along with my enduring friendship with Dr. Grant.”
She loves working with the Touchstone team to develop new strategies for supervision and new VBD protocols to expand the research base and student’s learning. She also enjoys mentoring students in the Nicholls program. Dr. Keohane has been an adjunct professor at Nicholls since 2009 and with Touchstone since 2017.
Her favorite way to spend her free time is with her 6 children and 7 grandchildren, sharing a love of all things Disney! Living in Celebration, Florida, Dr. Keohane and her family are minutes away from Disney family traditions.
This month we honor and celebrate Dr. Dolleen-Day Keohane for her commitment and contributions to the science of behavior analysis, her profound impact on improving the efficiency of our services with CABAS® practitioners, and her generosity with her time and expertise for the benefit of our clients and our staff.
